[oo-kuk-ti] One Who Speaks (Iñupiaq)

In March of 2014, I presented to the Northwest Arctic Borough Assembly in Kotzebue. During a break, Assembly members Verne Cleveland (Noorvik) and Clyde Ramoth (Selawik) called me over and said they wanted to give me an Inupiaq name – Uqaqti which means, “One Who Speaks”.

This name describes what Uqaqti Consulting is known for – communicate on behalf of our clients. Leadership from another region giving me this name (which signifies building bridges across our diverse state) is incredibly humbling – I am proud and honored to carry this name.
